Band

The Incarnation Band program involves students in 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Instruments that students may learn include: flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, oboe, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, and percussion. All band classes meet as regularly scheduled classes twice per week, during the school day.

The band performs two concerts, one in the winter and one in the spring. The Junior High students are eligible to participate in the OMEA solo and ensemble adjudicated events in the spring and select students may audition for the OMEA District 12 Honor Band. Additional performance opportunities are available to 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in performing with the Alter High School Band.

4th grade students are invited to try various instruments in the spring in order to decide if they will participate in band in 5th grade. Information regarding a beginning band parent meeting and registration for instrument fitting sessions are available in March and April. Students in grades 6-8 who haven’t already started to learn an instrument are still eligible to join the band in their grade levels.
