Our Fifth grade program has students take ownership of their learning and become independent with their academic success. Students are responsible for switching classes, taking care of their laptop, and utilizing their lockers.

Religion
Our Religion curriculum includes a closer look at the core beliefs of our faith and helps students attain a greater understanding of the Mass. It also covers a more in-depth study of the seven sacraments. Students are encouraged to use Christian values and live as desciples of Christ as they navigate the world around them. These values are reinforced as students attend all-school mass weekly.
English/language arts
Our English/Language Arts curriculum is derived from the Benchmark Advanced program. This program is aligned with Science of Reading research and includes reading, writing, grammar, and phonics instruction. It aims to develop literacy skills and knowledge through a balance of literary and informational texts, with a focus on building vocabulary and knowledge across various subjects. It integrates writing, speaking, and listening, and emphasizes critical thinking through guided instruction and knowledge-building activities.
MATH
Our Math curriculum includes concepts like decimal place value, whole number computation, exponents, all four operations with decimals and fractions, word problems, geometry (area and volume), and customary and metric measurement conversion. Those in the enriched program will also cover the sixth grade standards which include fraction/decimal/percent conversions, ratios, equations and expressions, equalities and inequalities, geometry (area, volume and surface area), and statistical measures.
science
Our Science curriculum covers the study of matter, energy and matter in organisims, energy and matter in ecosystems, patterns in the sky, Earth interactions and its resources, and an exploration of engineering and technology. Throughout the year an emphasis will be placed on developing reading skills for nonfiction resources, using evidence to make claims, understanding science vocabulary, interpreting charts and graphs, and probelm solving. Students will begin to transition from memorizatio to application of knowledge learned in class.
social studies
Our Social Studies curriculum focuses on geography and map skills then transitions to Early Civilizations including the Maya, Aztec, Inca, Mound Builders, Anasazi, Inuit, and many others. Once they understand the cultures, and what happened to each early group, they transition to understanding the colonization of North and South America.
Weekly Specials: Music (band, orchestra, or music), Art, Technology, Physical Education, 1 semester of Exploratory French, 1 semester of Exploratory Spanish, Library, Theatre, and Mass.
