Theatre
Incarnation offers a Theatre program focused on developing soft skills in 5th-8th grade students. Each grade level meets once per week during the school day. Fifth grade students develop their creativity and body-awareness through large group sound and movement exercises. Sixth grade focuses on small group improv to practice time management and presentation of material. Seventh and eighth-grade students who sign up for the Theatre elective work through the foundations of modern acting technique, then apply those skills to the performance of a monologue of their choosing.
Eighth-grade students are eligible to participate in the Fall play, either as actors or technicians. Students wishing to perform must audition. If cast, rehearsals run three days a week after school from October to mid-November. The process culminates in a school performance during the day, and an evening show open to the public. Past productions include Much Ado About Nothing, an adaptation of Agatha Christie’s The Secret Adversary, and a collection of comedy skits named And Hilarity Ensued.
The Theatre program continues to grow and will soon incorporate younger grades.
