Our Third grade program challenges students both spiritually and academically throughout the year. They gain greater independence both in and out of the classroom while continuing to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.
Curriculum
Religion
Our Religion curriculum explores the four marks of the Catholic Church; one, holy, catholic, and apostolic. Students learn about the 7 sacraments of the church, the many influential saints throughout church history, and how to be true disciples of Jesus.
English/language arts
Our English/Language Arts curriculum is derived from the Benchmark Advanced program. This program is aligned with Science of Reading research and includes reading, writing, grammar, and phonics instruction. It aims to develop literacy skills and knowledge through a balance of literary and informational texts, with a focus on building vocabulary and knowledge across various subjects. It integrates writing, speaking, and listening, and emphasizes critical thinking through guided instruction and knowledge-building activities.
MATH
Our Math curriculum introduces students to adding and subtracting larger numbers, working with fractions, measurement, graphing, and how to multiply and divide. Our teachers utilize manipulatives and other multi-modal approaches to make complex topics easier to understand.
SCIENCE
Our Science curriculum is focused on the engineering design process. Our students learn about forces and motion, life cycles and adaptations of both plants and animals, as well as weather.
social studies
Our Social Studies curriculum focuses on citizenship, economics, local history, and respecting and knowing ethnic heritage. Students develop map reading skills and are able to use informational text to research topics of study.
